Impact at Any Age: Mary Pipher

Grandmothers of the World, Unite!  One of our favorites, Mary Pipher, leading clinical psychologist, and author, wrote a beautiful piece for the NY Times. She just doesn't stop!  We are moved by her life of purpose, cultivation of community, and her commitment to a life that serves others.

"Action can come from love or anger. Older women know that leading with love is the most effective approach....old women are not threatening, but we are powerful.  Female leaders multitask and make connections to other groups and causes. Indigenous people's rights, social justice, local control of food and energy, and democracy are all part of one great cause-the respect for and preservation of life.  We are the mother trees in the forest, nurturing all our surroundings."

Mary has been inspiring us with her work that spans the entire life cycle,  from understanding teenage girls and building self-confidence in her book, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls, to the wisdom of the golden years in Women Rowing North: Navigating Life's Currents and Flourishing as We Age. She is a beacon of discernment and a call to action.
