Give Yourself a Place to Begin
You already have the answers to more than you think.
Sometimes, it’s just really hard to get started and to stay focused.
The Begin Now Journal was created to help you make space for reflection, create daily clarity about what you are building and moving toward, and turn greater self-awareness into meaningful action.
You do not need to have it all figured out before you begin. You just need a place to start.
Begin Now: 30-Day Challenge
Want to put the practice from the video into action?
For the next month, spend 5-10 minutes each day in reflection about the 5 things you are grateful for, 10 big goals you are working toward, and one you will focus on.
No need to overthink it or come up with the perfect answer; these can and will evolve. At the end of the first week, look back at what you wrote.
What patterns are starting to emerge? What feels different from day one?
Keep going, and look back again after two weeks and one month.
Some insights take time. Looking back can help you see what may not have been obvious in the moment and better understand how you are moving through the world.
Your next step can be clear in 1-3 months. Give yourself the space to clarify it and create a discipline to make it happen.
Their conversation explored the power of creating space to reflect, get intentional, and pay attention to what comes up when we connect our daily choices to our values, priorities, and goals.
Because sometimes the clarity we’re looking for is already there. We just need to make space to find it.
If you haven’t seen the episode yet, consider this your invitation.
Begin Development brings conversations about leadership, self-awareness, and team development into the room through interactive sessions designed to help people look deeper at how they lead, communicate, and contribute to the teams around them.

FAST COMPANY ON EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE
What Does Resilience Look Like in Practice?
We often think about resilience as the ability to keep going.
But for leaders, resilience can also mean paying attention to what is happening within us while we navigate pressure, uncertainty, and change.
The more aware we are of our patterns and reactions, the more choice we have in how we respond.
Malika recently shared a Fast Company article on her LinkedIn that explores why emotional resilience is becoming an increasingly valuable skill and why the way we move through challenging moments matters.
It's a timely reminder that self-awareness is not separate from how we lead. It is part of it.
Reflection helps us catch ourselves in the act - to notice the patterns we’ve been repeating, question the stories we’ve been carrying, and decide what still deserves to come with us.
Because self-awareness isn’t just knowing yourself better. It’s giving yourself more choice in how you want to show up and impact others.
Thank you for being leaders who make room to pause, reflect, and grow.
With gratitude,
Malika Begin
